Returning The Favor...
Danny Smith is about to return an unusual favor. Some time back Danny filled in for Austrailian driver Trevor Green while he recovered from a back injury. Now Danny is going to return that favor during the 2010 season for several select races including the Knoxville Nationals.

Danny Smith Racing is continuing its preparation for the 50th Annual Knoxville Nationals with stand in driver Trevor Green. Trevor has already run several races in Smith's #4 and look to be gaining momentum as they work towards Knoxville Nationals.

Danny wants to thank everyone for for the calls, support and prayers here in the USA and Australia. The violent crash seen above is from the first night of the Ohio Speedweek on Friday June 18th. Danny is recovering in an Ohio hospital and is scheduled to have surgery on Monday.
Cause for the incident - when the car hits the burm, the lower panel on the right side is collapsed holding the throttle wide open.
Update - 6/23 - Danny continues to recover from Monday's surgery on his back and has taken a walk today and is also sitting up in chair. Danny should be released in approximately 3 days, which will of course start a long road of therapy and recovery.
Update - 6/24 - Danny is scheduled to be released on Friday and would like to thank everyone for the cards, texts, emails, phone calls, donations, prayers and support.
Update - 6/25 - What a difference a week makes. One week ago Danny suffered injuries during a violent crash while qualifying at Attica. After a 4 hour surgery on Monday, Danny is headed back home later today to start the recovery and rehabilitation process. Danny wants to continue to thank everyone for their support and encouragement.
Update - 6/30 - Danny back to the hospital today for a follow up visit. Doctor said that the x-ray looked good. Also had over 30 staples removed during the visit. Danny will be in a brace for at least the next three months, which of course means that his driving season for 2010 is over. However, look for some Knoxville National plans to be announced very soon.
Update - 7/21 - Good News! Recent Doctors visit went well. Everythings looks well and should be back to 100% in 6 months. Current plan is to return to racing as the 2011 season gets underway in Florida.
